WILLIAM JONES

HERITAGE CONSULTANT

I work with the archaeology team as a Heritage Consultant. I bring 8 years of field experience to the role across a variety of projects in the UK and in Australia, working on pre-historic, Roman, Saxon, Medieval and early modern sites across England and Wales and across both First Nations and colonial sites in Australia.

ABOUT

WILLIAM

"My career highlights include working on archaeological investigations around Stonehenge in England as well as Celtic settlements in north Wales and Roman sites associated with Hadrian’s Wall and Villa sites in the east of England."

Since moving to Australia, I have been lucky enough to experience working on a variety of First Nations and colonial projects, including very early convict-associated sites in Parramatta and Sydney and a variety of fascinating First Nations projects in New South Wales and Victoria.

MY ARTEFACT

My artefact is a souvenir scarf from the last ever men’s football match at Goodison Park, the world’s first purpose-built football stadium. Five generations of my family supported Everton at the stadium, and I attended games there with my father and grandfathers for over 25 years before Everton moved to a new stadium in August 2025. It helps me to maintain a strong connection with my home city of Liverpool, despite now living on the other side of the world.
