RE-ADAPTING SITES FOR FUTURE USE

INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE

It’s no coincidence that Artefact’s head office is located on Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont. Completed in 1920 the wharf is a terrific example of industrial heritage. Originally designed to export wool and wheat, then used to process troops in the Second World War and later migrants to Australia, Jones Bay Wharf has many stories to tell.

In fact, when you visit us, you’ll see remnants of the wharf’s industrial past including rail lines, cranes and gantries.

What we love is that the wharf, now reborn as offices and cafes, has been designed in such a way as to maximize the heritage value of the site.

Our passion for heritage places is just one reason why Artefact is proud to offer consultancy advice to our clients who are looking to re-adapt former sites of industry for contemporary use.
