HISTORICAL HERITAGE
As highly experienced project leaders, Artefact has been lead consultant on many major projects. Our planning and management systems ensure that projects are completed in a timely, professional manner, working in partnership with our clients.
Since 2010 Artefact is proud to have worked on a diverse range of large and small-scale infrastructure and development projects.
During this time we have built-up extensive experience in a variety of sectors including rail, roads, power and renewables, health, greenfields development and urban renewal.
Some of the more well-known projects we've been involved with include: Central Station Metro; Parramatta Light Rail; Sydney Metro City & Southwest; Wickham Transport Interchange; Northern Beaches Hospital; St Vincent’s Private Hospital; Concord Forensic Mental Health Unit; Sydney Harbour Bridge; The Northern Road Stages 1 & 2; Berry to Bomaderry Upgrade (Princes Highway); West Wyalong Solar Farm; and Wind Farm and Transmission Line projects in the Pilbara and Western NSW.

SAMMUEL
My undergraduate studies at USYD showed me that I was interested in more scientific approaches to archaeology, and so I enrolled in the Master of Archaeological and Evolutionary Science program at ANU. During this time, I realised that my key interests were in the study of human remains, which led to me specialising in Biological Anthropology and Forensic Archaeology. I am due to complete my PhD at ANU in August 2024.
“I have had the opportunity to work with extensive human skeletal collections at several European institutions and am currently involved in various research groups aimed at advancing the theoretical and practical components of bioarchaeology.”
I am also interested in how the social, cultural, and political systems of past human populations affected their health and lifestyles. I have also been fortunate enough to work as an archaeologist on Aboriginal and historic sites in NSW and Queensland, as well as Roman-period sites in Ostia, Italy.
MY ARTEFACT
My grandfather’s Kodak Brownie box camera, which was made in the 1920s, was incredibly popular and ground-breaking in its day. But, compared to a modern digital camera, it is cumbersome and antiquated. I think it perfectly encapsulates how we can admire and be fascinated by the past, but also use the perspective it gives us to appreciate where we are now.
