JONNY LOVE

SENIOR HERITAGE CONSULTANT

Jonny is a member of the Historical Archaeology team who specialises in archaeological research, fieldwork excavation, artefact interpretation and report writing. Jonny is a highly valued team member who received the Managing Director's Award for Heritage Excellence in 2025 for his extraordinary achievements in the heritage consultancy.

Previously he worked internationally as a supervisor for the site of Khirbet al-Ra‘i, Israel. In addition, Jonny has domestic archaeology experience on both historical and Aboriginal projects.

Jonny's love for heritage and the past was discovered in his early 20s when he solo backpacked around Israel. There, he learnt about the mysterious nature of history and the lessons that connecting the past to the present can teach.

He studied a degree in Archaeology at Macquarie University which provided him with the opportunity to return to Israel where he worked on the iconic site of Khirbet al-Ra‘i – a site known in Hebrew literature for its association with King David. He continued his studies with a Master of Research thesis where he examined and stratigraphically reconstructed ceramic assemblages from this site.
