Full speed ahead

Transport for NSW is building an extension of the M1 Princes Motorway between Yallah and Oak Flats to bypass Albion Park Rail. The NSW Government is funding the $630 million project. The bypass would complete the 'missing link' for a high standard road between Sydney and Bomaderry. Motorists are expected to be driving on the new motorway by mid-2021, with the project on track for completion in late 2021.

OUR
SOLUTION

Artefact Heritage was engaged by Transport for NSW to conduct an Aboriginal archaeological survey and assessment for the proposal. This was done in accordance with Stage 2 of Transport for NSW's Procedure for Aboriginal Cultural Heritage consultation and investigation (PACHCI). The resulting ASR was used to guide the future planning of a bypass of Albion Park Rail.

SUCCESS

The Albion Park Rail Bypass is now under construction. Since November 2020 Transport for NSW have been building pavement, laying asphalt and line marking. The coming months will see workers beavering away to complete the 13 bridges, noise mounds, road repairs and landscaping.
